ACTIVITIES

EMET and EHFSA collectively host and manage educational and research activities in and around the Ecton Mines. Apart from formal courses at school and university levels, and informal visits for community groups, scientific societies, and organisations such as The National Trust and the National Stone Centre, they support, commission, and participate in research projects large and small.

EMET also has a key responsibility for maintenance and restoration of the training centre and of the physical structures, both surface and underground, related to the histry of mining at Ecton.

These activities are managed by enthusiastic teams of unpaid volunteers in both EMET and EHFSA, many with extensive teaching, research, and industry experience.
